We keep in contact with Anne, our link missionary in North Africa
Anne keeps us well informed about her pioneering work and in return she regularly receives letters and cards from members of our congregation. We always look forward to her visits when she is back in the UK.
There are various charities we have a particular interest in, these include:
UK Charity – Cambridge Street Pastors
Street pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who care about their community. Patrolling the streets of Cambridge on Friday and Saturday nights, without judgement they engage with, listen and care for people who are out on the streets whether living, working or socialising there. Their sister project NightLite provides a safe space for people to rest, recover or wait for friends or a taxi.
They are supported by local churches and community groups in partnership with the police, local council and other statutory agencies. We have 3 Street Pastors, including the local coordinator, in our congregation.
Overseas Health – Mercy Ships
Africa Mercy is a floating hospital ship with five operating theatres and 82 beds. Run by 350 international volunteers, they provide free medical care to some of the world’s poorest people in more than 55 developing countries.
In the last couple of years we have had visits from Lea Milligan, Executive Director, and former members Dr Leo and Rev Hilary Cheng who regularly serve on the ship.

Overseas Developmental – Solar4Sach
We have supported Solar4Sach raising money to buy and install a vital solar PV electricity supply for Sachibondu hospital in north-western Zambia. It is in a very remote area serving the local Lunda people, who travel many miles – mostly on foot through the bush – to access medical care. Sachibondu Lake was created in 1987 to generate electricity, but the supply was unreliable during the dry season. Solar panels will aid the work and development of the hospital.
Following a visit last year by Graham Reed, we continue to hear about the work of the hospital and Knit & Natter are always busy making baby sets and clothes for the hospital.

Link to Hope
This Christian charity based in Worthing works in Eastern Europe through Education and Social Care. Each year we contribute to their Shoebox Appeal by filling shoe-boxes for marginalised families and elderly people.
